About

This blog contains my observations and ideas, with no guarantee of consistency, relevance, or any kind of coherent branding. I challenge you to construct a good ad-hominem based on this page.

Elmer of Malmesbury is obviously not my real name – it’s a pseudonym I borrowed from a flying monk. My real name is Abou al-Qasim Abbas ibn Firnas ibn Wirdas al-Takurini, or something like that. I am from continental Europe but temporarily live in the East Coast of one of the Americas. I am in my late 20s. Without compromising my anonymity, I can tell you that I work either as a researcher in some natural science, or as a penguin breeder. You decide. My academic h-index is 61I will definitely forget to update this. and my Erdős-Bacon number is 92This one is less likely to change.. According to this online IQ test based on the correlation between reaction time and IQ, I have an IQ of 493But I was using an old tap-to-click trackpad, so I blame the hardware..

Bonus tutorial: to make a telescopic turnip at home, get a turnip, insert an icepick through it, then roll a knife around the icepick in a helicoid motion to cut the turnip into a spring. Remove the icepick and enjoy your telescopic turnip. (If you actually try this, please send pictures.)
